November 12-14, 2007
UAF Akasofu Building (IARC), Room 401
Fairbanks, Alaska

The goals of this workshop are to 1) describe observed changes in the Eurasian hydroclimatological system over the instrumental period from stations, gridded data, reanalyses and remote sensing; 2) apply our knowledge of biases and inhomogeneity in the observational record; 3) attribute changes to specific physical processes in both the regional and global domain; 4) discuss implications of change for water resources and other human systems 5) summarize the findings in an EOS meeting report and longer peer-reviewed journal article. Broad categories of the climate system which should be addressed include changes in precipitation, frozen ground, river systems, large-scale atmospheric circulation, clouds and radiation, vegetation, and anthropogenic change. Short, focused presentations on these topics are expected to be drawn from the participants. Posters are also welcome. The workshop will also include significant discussion time. Participants may be asked to prepare figures and consider specific questions ahead of time. The proposed workshop is intended to contribute to and build upon existing efforts such as IPY, NEESPI, SEARCH, and FWI. Travel support is possible for a small number of early career scientists, based on availability of funds.
Registration deadline: October 1, 2007
