Mt. Kilimanjaro Expedition

September 10, 2009

Elena Sparrow and Martha Kopplin have been working with teacher Mike O'Toole from Kentucky, who will be accompanying South African students on a trek up Mt. Kilimanjaro. Kenji Yoshikawa will also be on this trip, as noted in Ned Rozell's column. O'Toole willl be making measurements and noting changes in the melting glaciers along the way, studying the different biomes as the group gains altitude. O'Toole has developed an interactive website that students from around the world can access to follow along day by day. The trek takes place from September 23 - October 2 and will conclude with a presentation of their findings to teachers at the GLOBE Seasons and Biomes Arusha workshop on October 3.
